Mark-Paul Gosselaar Will Star in Fox’s ‘The Passage’

Mark-Paul Gosselaar recently co-starred on Fox’s Pitch series, which lasted only a single season. But Gosselaar may not be off of Fox for long.

Variety is reporting that Gosselaar has landed the lead in The Passage, a new show based upon the novel trilogy of the same name by Justin Cronin.  The initial report didn’t state the name of Gosselaar’s character, but it appears that he will play Brad Wolgast, an FBI agent who refuses to kidnap a ten-year old girl named Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney) for experiments that have created a new vampire plague. Considering that Gosselaar has aged pretty well since his Saved by the Bell days, perhaps he should have been cast as one of the vampires.

Amy is actually the main character of the series, since it will fall upon her to save the human race. The Passage TV series will take place in duel timelines, the present in which Amy and Brad go on the run and the far future in which a vampire post-apocalypse has changed the world forever.

Genesis Rodriguez, Brianne Howey, BJ Britt and Jennifer Ferrin have also been signed to leading roles in The Passage, which will be executive produced by Ridley Scott. Although the pilot didn’t begin filming in time for the last development cycle, it still has a shot for the 2017-2018 season on Fox. Production is expected to begin in Atlanta later this month.
