Stuntwoman-Survivalist-Model Lindsay Phenix Takes Part In The Wheel

Discovery’s new adventure survival series The Wheel is the ultimate survival challenge where participants must survive six lethal environments over the course of 60 days. One of its participants: Lindsay Phenix, a stuntwoman and model who lives in LA. She said she loves the feeling when you think you’re going to die, which is why she keeps challenging herself.

CraveOnline: Tell us about The Wheel.

Lindsay Phenix: It’s a survival show. The premise is, they have six different locations around South America, and each contestant is completely by themselves. We get transported to each location, and we don’t know how long we’re in each location for and don’t know when we’re getting moved. And when we are moved, it’s a 180-degree turn weather and terrain-wise.

How did you find out/apply for the show?

I do stunt work in LA and had done a commercial for Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s show The Runner. I was in the production database and they sent out mass flyer saying, Do you have what it takes to survive in the wild for 60 days? So I sent in a video explaining who I am, you never think you’ll get one but I got a call back, and once I hit the third interview, I knew I was in for it. I was actually named as an alternate and got bumped up, so I am so grateful for that. It was a whirlwind!

What is it about challenging yourself that keeps you coming back for more?

There’s something about completely feeling like you’re gonna die, whether it’s a race or the survivalist mentality, this complete overwhelming sense of pushing through when you can’t go on… love crossing that threshold and coming out the other side 10 times stronger. I credit my father for that: he’s ex-military and we would do races together, and he always pushed me to become better. He raised me with tough love but my parents were super caring too. But there was never quitting anything, so I really give full credit to my mom and dad.
