New York Comic Con 2016 | ‘Doctor Who’ & ‘Class’ Sneak Previews

The Doctor is in New York for the annual New York Comic Con. But before Peter Capaldi and the cast of Doctor Who took the stage, BBC America dropped a few previews that expanded the Whoniverse.

First up, BBC revealed that the title of this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special will be “The Return of Doctor Mysterio,” and it will feature Orphan Black‘s Justin Chatwin as a superhero. Here’s the first pic of Chatwin in costume followed by a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel with Capaldi and his new co-star, Matt Lucas.

And if that’s not enough Doctor Who for you, BBC reconfirmed that Capaldi will guest star in the first episode of the upcoming spinoff, Class. To further illustrate that, Capaldi’s Doctor is the focal point of the very first teaser trailer for Class, which only lightly glimpses the lead characters as the Doctor explains who he is and what he does…and also why they may have to take their survival into their own hands when even he can’t be everywhere at once.

The Doctor Who Christmas special will be airing on December 25th, which will then be followed by the tenth season of the revived series in Spring 2016. It’s not clear when Class will premiere on BBC America, but an early 2016 bow seems likely.
