‘Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders’ Will Premiere At NYCC

After the successful world premiere of Batman: The Killing Joke last month at Comic-Con, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is bringing a decidedly old-school Batman to New York Comic Con this fall. And it doesn’t get more old school than Adam West himself!

NYCC and Warner Bros. have revealed that the opening day of New York Comic Con (Thursday, October 6) will be the world premiere of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, the new animated film based upon the Batman TV series from the sixties. Three surviving cast members from that show are back for the new movie: West as Batman, Burt Ward as Robin, and Julie Newmar as Catwoman. But of the movie’s stars, only West is making the trip back east for the panel presentation after the movie. West will be joined by director Rick Morales, writer and producer Michael Jelenic, supervising producer James Tucker.

Here’s the description for the new film from WB.

“It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes – Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. This time, the four Super-Villains have combined their wicked talents to hatch a plot so nefarious that the Dynamic Duo will need to go to outer space (and back) to foil their arch enemies and restore order in Gotham City. It’s a truly fantastic adventure that will pit good against evil, good against good, evil against evil … and feature two words that exponentially raise the stakes for both sides: Replicator Ray. Holy Multiplication Tables!”

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders hits Blu-ray and DVD on November 1, but if you don’t care about getting a physical copy, it’s available on digital platforms starting on October 11.
