Titan Plans Assassin’s Creed Comics

Back in 2010, DC Comics released an Assassin’s Creed comic book miniseries. Now after a five year absence, Assassin’s Creed is finally coming back to comics.

Titan Comics has announced that it has picked up the comic rights to Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed video game series ahead of the release of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the latest game in the series.

Doctor Who artist Neil Edwards has been signed to draw a new five issue Assassin’s Creed miniseries which will be released later this year. A writer for the Assassin’s Creed mini was not announced, nor was it revealed which assassin will be the main character in the comic. The Assassin’s Creed video game franchise began in 2007, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be the ninth game in the series.

“We’re so excited to be working with Ubisoft on this fantastic new adventure, said Titan Comics editor Lizzie Kaye in a statement. “Assassin’s Creed is one of the most notoriously beautiful games on the market, and the team at Ubisoft have created a world that is perfect for us to explore, expand and inhabit with a raft of new characters in new settings. We’re really hoping to surprise readers with the direction for this new series.”

In addition to the comic series and the new game, Michael Fassbender is slated to star in an Assassin’s Creed movie, which is scheduled to be released late next year.
