Comic-Con 2013: ‘The Simpsons’ Will Guest Star on ‘Family Guy’

The Griffin family is coming to Springfield!

Entertainment Weekly broke the story that an upcoming episode of “Family Guy” will feature Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria reprising their roles from “The Simpsons” as Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, Stewie and Brian take a roadtrip to Springfield.

According to the report, Homer and Peter will bond over their mutual love of beer while their wives, Marge and Lois find that they share common ground. Stewie will be impressed by Bart’s reign of terror as prankster while Lisa tries to help Meg find something that she’s good at.

It’s worth noting that the crossover episode won’t be taking place on “The Simpsons” itself. Series creator, Matt Groening infamously removed his name from the episode “A Star Is Burns” to illustrate his disdain about a crossover between “The Simpsons” and “The Critic.”

“The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” creative teams have also taken a few shots at each other in the past, including a brief sequence in a “Simpsons” Halloween episode in which Peter was shown to be an imperfect clone of Homer. However, “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane subsequently lent his vocals to “Futurama” and guest-starred on “The Simpsons,” signaling an end to the apparent feud.

Further details of the crossover episode are expected to be revealed at Comic-Con during the “Family Guy” and “The Simpsons” panels.
