"Most famous" is obviously a subjective term. An athlete could be extremely famous among one generation, and almost unknown for another. So how did I come up with the MOST famous from each state? To start, I used athlete lists from Sports Illustrated, local newspapers, and Wikipedia. From there, I asked myself, "Which of these guys is going to be the most well-known 100 years from now?" And finally, I made sure each of the athletes had spent at least 5 years of their childhood in their "home" state and tacked them onto the map. Finished. Let the arguments begin.
We've also made maps of the most popular actors from each state if you want more ammo as to why your state is the best/worst.
