Architecturally, there is nothing more boring than the many bland motels and hotels that dot our landscape. Sure, they’re practical, economical and serve their function, but sometimes you want an adventure. Something that influences your dreams. (Or nightmares.) Maybe some of these will make your bucket list. When you feel the call, here are 15 of the weirdest hotels in the world.
1. Icehotel - Jukkasjarvi, Sweden
Literally built fresh each year, the Icehotel is the largest hotel made of ice and snow. In March, they harvest ice from the Torne River and begin the build. When the sun rises in April and starts to melt the structure, the hotel closes until the next season. Beware, it gets cold.

3. The Madonna Inn - San Luis Obispo, CA
Each of its 110 rooms has a different theme ranging rom Caveman to Yosemite Rock, with nearly every variation in between. No two rooms are alike. You could visit over and over and never sleep in the same room twice! (Some guests are obsessive-compulsive enough to make it through every one.)

Built in 2010 and located in Sweden, you too can live in the trees in a place that looks like its title. The hotel also sports a Mirrored Cube room, a UFO room, and even a Tree Sauna. It’s like a kid’s dream come to life.

7. Propeller Island City Lodge - Berlin, Germany
Maybe the designers inhaled too many illegal substances, but either way, these themed rooms are one-of-a-kind. For example, the Mirror Room: A diamond-shaped room is completely laid out with mirrors and gives you the impression of living in a kaleidoscope.
Equally as topsy-turvy is the upside down room, pictured here. Uncannily surreal!

8. The Marmara Antalya - Sirinyali Antalya, Mahallesi, Turkey
You’ve seen rotating restaurants, now witness a hotel. Located on cliffs, it’s the world’s only spinning hotel that rotates on its foundation for a stunning view. A full rotation takes anywhere between 2 and 22 hours, and is aided by 6 electric motors. Might be odd when you wake up in the morning and think you’re in a different room due to the view.

12. The Liberty - Boston
Spend your night sleeping in areas that once housed notorious criminals. Finished in 1851 in the “Boston Granite Style,” this structure was the Charles Street Jail for 120 years. After going through remodeling, it opened in 2007 as a luxury hotel. (How cool would Alcatraz be as remodeled hotel?)

From the staircase location, it looks like one enters through the Big Beagle's Butt. Hmm...
