Located in Las Vegas, Nev., the owner calls diners “risk-takers.” And he isn’t kidding. As reported in the Los Angeles Times, in April of this year, a woman collapsed at the restaurant. Said the owner, “the woman got what she asked for -- a brush with death.” Forget anything remotely healthy. Guinness World Records presented Heart Attack Grill with a certificate proclaiming “Most calorific burger,” at almost 9,982 calories. The average for an entire day is 2,000.

2. Crif Dogs
Located in New York City, this small joint is easy on your wallet and serves beef and pork hot dogs smoked and deep fried to order. Yeah, deep fried. Another option is their New Yorker dog, which is grilled. While they have vegetarian options, your friends might laugh if you order one.

3. Big Texan
Located in -- where else? -- Texas (where everything is bigger, including the meat), Big Texan is more than a steakhouse. It’s got live music, arcade slot machines, even a shooting gallery while you wait for your table. Portions are big and so is the atmosphere.

Located in San Diego and Las Vegas, this restaurant has big portions and interesting combinations. The photo shown is their Sage Fried Chicken. As one commenter said on Yelp, “omg! biggest portions like ever! Ordered for one and got a dish for like literally 3 peepz.” It’s probably best to share. Word of warning: some folks don’t like the wait, which can take up to 40 minutes.

In the city known for steaks and pizza, Lucky’s Sandwich Company in Chicago reigns supreme as a welcome alternative. Located in Wrigleyville, all sandwich selections are “overstuffed” with a selection of meats, tomatoes, oil, vinegar and French fries stacked on top.

6. Ben & Jerry’s The Vermonster
Located in Waterbury, Vt., the Vermonster is an ice cream person’s Shangri-La. The evil concoction is a sundae made with 20 scoops of ice cream, four bananas, lots of hot fudge, a mound of walnuts, chocolate-chip cookies, a fudge brownie, favorite toppings and whipped cream. It’s a whopping 14,000 calories and 500 grams of fat.

7. Gaffey Street Diner
Located in San Pedro, Calif., this American diner with well-loved booths and landscape photos of the Port of Los Angeles, serves mongo portions. You can picture dockworkers coming here before their shifts, filling their gullets with good grub.

There’s almost nothing more polarizing in the food world than BBQ and its regional fans. Having said that, Serious Texas Barbeque located, in of all places, Durango, Colo., is one serious place to pig out, with sauce dripping all over your face. Nothing fancy here, just good food and large portions.

Located in Ridgewood, N.J., this ain’t no IHOP. This is like the monster-truck version of pancakes. With over 100 varieties, 20 types of French toast and 50 version of Belgian waffles, the recipe reads like “War and Peace.” Zagat rated the pancakes as the size of pizzas.

10. Beth’s Cafe
Located in Seattle, Wash., and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Beth’s Cafe is known for hearty American diner food. Though they offer lunch and dinner, breakfast is their bread and butter. They even offer all-you-can-eat hash browns for just $1.50 extra, but if you’re feeling really hungry, go for the 12-egg omelet. Yeah, 12 eggs. With cheese, sour cream, salsa and a side of heartburn.

For those with a taste of the sea, try the Acme Oyster House. With a name as if from a Bugs Bunny cartoon, the food is nothing to laugh at. Located in New Orleans, La., and open for over 100 years, it’s known for its fresh, hand-shucked Louisiana oysters, served over ice or chargrilled.
