Urban legends of ridiculous lawsuits flourish on the Internet. We came across a burglar suing a homeowner because he slipped during a robbery, and a woman suing a department store for tripping over her own toddler. While entertaining, most of these tales are totally tall. That said, equally insane, real cases do exist. From kids suing their mom for not spoiling them to a man taking legal action against himself, we’ve found 10 real lawsuits that’ll blow your mind.
1. God Demands Answers
Minnesota resident Christopher Roller is suing magicians David Blaine and David Copperfield, demanding that they either reveal their secrets to him or pay him 10 percent of their lifetime earnings. Roller claims that these two men defy the laws of physics and therefore must be using “godly powers.” Since Roller is god (according to him), these guys are somehow stealing his power and using it for profit.-

2. Doesn’t Want to Be Like Mike
Oregonian Allen Heckard sued Michael Jordan and Nike in 2009 because when dressed in the brand’s gear, people mistook him for the legendary star, an error that caused him “emotional pain and suffering.” The only thing that could help Heckard recover was $832 million split between No. 23 and the corporation that helped make him a household name.-

3. The Real Man Behind the iPod
In 2009, Franz A. Wakefield filed a suit against Steve Jobs, Apple and Sarah Jessica Parker, claiming that he’s the one who conceived the iPod, iTunes and the iPhone. How the heck is Sarah Jessica Parker involved? Wakefield claims that he and the "Sex and the City" star made a secret deal: he would award her 2 percent gross of the products if she consented to endorse his inventions. Parker has no recollection of ever speaking to Wakefield.-

4. Sending Out the Bat Signal
Since 1939, a ton of TV shows and films have used “Batman” in their titles. However, it wasn’t until 2008 that Mayor Huseyin Kalkan of Batman, Turkey decided to do something about Hollywood using his city’s name without permission. In addition to suing the producers and director of "The Dark Knight," Kalkan blamed the film “for a number of unresolved murders and a high female suicide rate” in his town.-

5. Not Fast or Furious Enough
This past October, Sarah Deming filed a lawsuit against the distributor of the film "Drive" because the movie’s trailer lead her to believe "Drive" would be similar to "The Fast and Furious." Apparently, viewing a well-written, artsy film instead of a no-thought-required racing flick left her extremely disappointed. In addition to a ticket refund, Deming has asked that the company promise to no longer produce misleading trailers.-

6. The Hand that Rocked the Cradle
In 2011, the First Appellate Court of Illinois dismissed a suit filed by a 23-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter against their mother. The kids accused their mom of “bad mothering” because she imposed a midnight curfew when each was a teen, “haggled” over party-dress budgets and failed to send them college care packages. Represented by their father (a lawyer and their mom’s ex-husband), the brats wanted over $50,000 in emotional damages.-

7. Open a Beer, Get a Babe
In 1991, Michigan resident Richard Overton sued Anheuser-Busch for false advertising. After seeing a commercial in which two men’s fantasies of bikinied babes came to life upon cracking open a cold one, Overton bought some Bud Light and attempted to replicate the success story. When his dream girl didn’t appear despite his drinking, he claimed to suffer emotional distress, mental injury and financial loss in excess of $10,000. The court swiftly dismissed all claims.-

8. Suing Hyde on Behalf of Jekyll
In a mindboggling case from 1995, Robert Lee Brock attempted to sue himself for $5,000,000 alleging that he violated his own civil rights by getting drunk and committing a series of crimes for which he was serving time in the big house. Brock was under the impression that the since he was incarcerated, the state would have to pay him the money. Not shockingly, the courts canned the case.-

9. She’s So Vain
Lindsay Lohan sued E-Trade for $100,000,000 this year for their use of the name “Lindsay” in reference to a female baby in their Superbowl ad. Lohan claims that much like Sting or Madonna, she’s known to the public by a singular name, and that labeling the baby named Lindsay a “milkaholic” was a direct reference to her life. Because everyone knows there’s only one Lindsay. According to Lindsay.-

10. A Rapist’s Sob Story
In 2002, an idiotic man named Edward Brewer sued Providence Hospital for $2,000,000, claiming that he suffered emotional damage because the hospital hadn’t prevented him from raping one of their patients. Yes, the guy raped someone and sued for his suffering. The courts found the case as ridiculous as we do and told Brewer that the hospital had no legal duty to protect him from himself.-
