    If you’re the type of person who can’t fathom how anyone could ever think that Robert Downey Jr. is 5 feet 8 inches tall when he’s so obviously a good quarter-inch shorter than that, and you frequently wonder why no one ever seems to mention how short Johnny Depp really is, then you’re likely already intimately familiar with CelebHeights.

    Launched in 2004 as a website dedicated to crowd-sourcing the stature of famous people, CelebHeights has also emerged as a dumping ground for passionately argued conspiracy theories about celebrities who may be disguising their true heights, and online smackdowns of anyone naïve enough to believe the measurements produced by the Hollywood publicity machine.

    As any serious discussion about the sizes of, say, Carrot Top or Corey Feldman are guaranteed to be ridiculous, we had to check out the site for ourselves. Here’s an nice sampling of the absurd comments that awaited us.

    i am surprised this guy has lost a bit off premature height already. i think he was 6’0.75 or 6’1 (185cm) in Philidelphia and when you see pics off him with tom hanks he looked virtually around 185cm. 10 years ago with ethan hawke about 6’0.25 or 6’0.5

    But yeah i'd pin him at 6’0.75 (185cm). He was a tallish guy but he was never a ‘strong’ tall man.

    Just for everyone’s info you lose about a .25 in height for every 20lbs overweight you become. Even if you regain you’re ideal weight again, you usually only regain 75% of the height you lost due to disc and joint compression from the obesity.

    By this guy’s math, a person 64,000 pounds overweight who sheds the excess baggage will be 50 feet shorter than he would have been had he stayed slim. Somehow we don’t think that’s possible.

    Dude, read the comments below, jtm agreed with the list of estimates I gave you, so that’s at least one person who agrees with me. You think jtm has a height complex too because he agrees with those estimates? Ridiculous. You sir, are an absolute joke.

    Do research before you post. Go to Brad Pitt’s page, there are barefoot pictures posted by delphonic on 1/Jan/12 of Pitt and Paltrow where Pitt is virtually the same height as Paltrow. Those pictures are the proof Pitt is 176 MAX barefoot, i.e. without his lifts. George Clooney is around the same height as Pitt, and Damon is slightly shorter than both Pitt and Clooney, hence my 176 and 174 estimates for Clooney and Damon. As for Jonathan Ross, go to his page, he looked below 6'0" next to Gary Lineker who claims 5'9" for himself. I think YOU are the one who needs to think for a second, rather than blindly believing all of the listings on here.

    This site needs more people like Viper, Legend, Chameleon, Physics Enemy, jtm, JohnnyRB, johno, Dural, delphonic and myself only to name a few. People who aren't fooled by unreliable celeb height listings on other sites or by celebs' lifts. People who purely look at facts and evidence. If you call that 'downgrading', so be it. I call it being realist and being rational.

    And by the way dude, I don't have a height complex at all. Heck, I have no reason at all to have a complex about it, aerosol can method measures me at 184.7 at my highest and 183.2 at my lowest. I was also measured at 183.5cm by a doctor so I know my measurements are accurate. I dont care if you think I lie about this or have a height complex. In fact I think it's YOU who has issues/complexes because of the rude way you responded, which was TOTALLY uncalled for.

    The dead giveaway to me was always his pants; he never gets them hemmed properly. He needs the excess crinkly effect on the bottom to somewhat hide the obvious heel advantage on his lifts. If he got them altered to actually fit and break where they fall on his shoes, they would be way too blatant in appearance.
