One of the hottest women in the music business, Nicole Scherzinger has dominated the industry for years. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Scherzinger moved with her family to Louisville, Kentucky when she was 6 years old. Her parents didn't have much money, but they managed to send her to the Youth Performing Arts School, where she began her ascent to fame.

As a teenager, Scherzinger performed with the Actors Theatre of Louisville as well as entering a variety of talent contests. She had her first real break when she was cast on the WB's reality show "Popstars" in 2001. The show was designed to create a pre-fab girl group, Eden's Crush, and Scherzinger became one of the founding members.

After "Popstars" ended, Eden's Crush continued, with their debut single "Get Over Yourself (Goodbye)" hitting the Billboard Top 10. The group toured with 'N Sync and Jessica Simpson, and Scherzinger was approached to be the fourth member of the Black Eyed Peas (a position that Fergie eventually assumed).

Eden’s Crush's record label went out of business and the band disbanded, which was a relief to Nicole Scherzinger. Not having creative control of her music rankled her, and she did some solo work before joining popular celebrity burlesque troupe, the Pussycat Dolls.

The Pussycat Dolls were, at first, just a dance troupe that would let hot female celebrities sit in on stage with them. Their management wanted to transform them into a full-fledged musical act, so they recruited Nicole Scherzinger to give them a professional frontwoman. The group's debut album, "PCD" was a smashing success.

Nicole Scherzinger wrote nearly 100 songs for her first solo album, "Her Name Is Nicole." Some of those songs made their way to the Pussycat Dolls' second album, "Doll Domination," but the entire record was never released. After nearly half a decade of writing and recording, the material sounded a little dated and Scherzinger tossed it.

Thankfully, Scherzinger didn't let that experience sour her on the music business, and she rebounded to put together her first full solo album, "Killer Love." Made in collaboration with producer RedOne, the album boasted several hit singles and made Scherzinger a solo star in her own right.

One of the most terrifying experiences in Scherzinger's life was during the filming of the video for "Try with Me" in Mexico. As Scherzinger and the crew were traveling through the mountains of Mexico towards the Xilitla rainforest to film the crew, they were held at gunpoint by a local gang who attempted to ransom them.

Nicole Scherzinger has appeared on a number of reality television shows, but the most notable was the 10th season of "Dancing with the Stars." Scherzinger was partnered with former winner Derek Hough, and her massive stage experience gave her a huge lead over the other celebs. She went on to win the whole season.

Her experience working with the Pussycat Dolls made Nicole Scherzinger a perfect choice to host "The X Factor." She was hired first as a guest judge for the seventh season of the U.K. version, but she impressed the producers so much with her sharp wit and keen ear that she was cast on the U.S. show as well.
