It's hard to decide what makes a cameo "the best." Sometimes it's how surprising and absurd it is. Other times, it's how incredibly funny or even sexy it makes the scene. And some cameos can be considered great because of how lame or extraordinarily unnecessary they are. For this list, we've decided not to discriminate, tossing in a mixed bag in order to ensure entertainment of all our readers one way or another.
15. Billy Zane ("Zoolander")
Clearly Billy Zane always has Derek Zoolander's back wherever he goes. But it doesn't matter, because ol' Derek couldn't be any less appreciative. For shame. Billy Zane's a cool dude. (Other notable cameos in this film include David Bowie, Vince Vaughn, Judah Friedlander, Heidi Klum, Lance Bass and Fred Durst).
14. Adam Sandler ("Dirty Work")
Chris Farley is also uncredited in this film, and as always, his character is awesome. But Sandler's one-off Satan character (topped off with a pinch of Gary Coleman) comes and goes so quickly that it's just absurd enough to make the list.
13. Hulk Hogan ("Gremlins 2: The New Batch")
You could call this the intermission no one asked for. But what can we say? Hulk Hogan was popular back then. And who would want to live in a world where the word "gremsters" doesn't exist?
12. Matt Damon ("Eurotrip")
If you weren't paying attention, you might have missed Matt Damon as Donny, the punk rocker in "Eurotrip." Sure, he's lip-syncing, but when you look that badass, no one is going to question you.
11. Ben Stiller ("Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny")
Another case of nearly unrecognizable, this scene has a little bit of everything in terms of what makes a cameo great. Minus sexy.
10. Bob Saget ("Half Baked")
This is probably the point where you realized Danny Tanner was dead and gone.
9. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck ("Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back")
Even though director Gus Van Sant almost steals the scene, we had to again give this one to Matt Damon and co-star/screenwriter of the original "Good Will Hunting," Ben Affleck. They phone in this faux sequel masterfully.
8. Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, Tim Robbins, Ben Stiller ("Anchorman")
Other than "Zoolander," no film features more awesome cameos than this one. While Jack Black, Seth Rogen and Danny Trejo also appear in the movie, it's the convergence of the local news teams that really brings the cameo glory. Their "Gangs of New York"-inspired battle scene is one of the best ever.
